Entrepreneurship : Experience Sharing Session with university students
I believe that we need to educate our next generation not only
entrepreneur skill but also entrepreneur mindset and we need to start
developing these skills early in their educations. Based on that philosophy, I
embark on a mission to expose entrepreneurship skills and mindset to university
students.
We cannot have another generation that trying to living in the
comfort of salaried job. This is one of the reasons why we are trapped in the
middle income. It is pertinent that we inculcate the discipline, persistent,
and the passion in these students to start their own business; testing the
boundaries, getting out from the middle-income trap.
Why our experience sharing sessions are different?
As the name suggest, it is an experience sharing session. The other
holds seminar, dishing out theories. We on the other hands bring real life
entrepreneurs, with practical solutions.
I am quite picky on the choice of speakers. I do not want to invite
highly successful but older speakers. I rather have young and ambitious
entrepreneurs to speak to the students. Young entrepreneurs may not be that
successful but I want someone who the students can relate to, and someone who
can ‘speak’ the language of the Gen Y. Basically, the students will learn “from
one of them”. It is pure common sense; youngsters will listen to their peers,
not from 50 plus year old dinosaurs.
We keep the number of audience in small number. Hence, the session
will be more interactive. Students will be actively involved in the sessions.
What’s the impact?
I received positive feedbacks from the students. Due to the good
response, it motivates us to organize more sessions in the future. After series
of experience sharing sessions, some are inspired to start their own business;
some are inspired to pursue their dreams. Good vibes so far.
That’s is our intention: to inspire.
